Image Licensing
Not everyone wants just a static photo print to place around the house or office, I know that to be true. Organizations in particular need images they can use, crop, adjust, and print on their own within other documents. This is why I offer limited Licenses for use of my images. With licensed images, clients select an image, contact me with the name of the image and their proposed use, and once a usage fee has been determined I provide a high resolution digital copy of the image, and a letter laying out what permissions are allowed. It really is simple.
How much does it cost
The cost for the client varies by use, visibility, proposed reprint size, etc. The variables are so vast that I really can't chart it out. I am happy to see my work being appreciated and used, and appreciate the visibility, thus I charge a very reasonable price.
In fact, I appreciate the visibility so much that several of my images I am willing to offer for free. These however I will not list openly.

What sort of permissions come with licensed images?
Almost everything! The letter which will be mailed to you after the fee has been processed will state:
- That you and agencies or organizations associated with you are exempt from liability of copyright infringment listed within the time period given.
- That the photographer will retain full copyright ownership, and you are being granted an exemption which gives you rights similar to that of the owner
- The decided upon time during which you may publish the image
- The decided upon use(s) of the image during that time
- The permissions including reproduction, publication, modification, etc. in relation to the above mentioned use
- That you may not extend the rights provided by the photographer through the exemption to anyone not directly involved with the above mentioned use without the expressed permission of the photographer
Don't fear the copycats!
Once you have licensed an image, it is yours to use for the period of time decided upon before payment. During this period, no one else may license that image. Similar images from the same shooting session or from another time may however be licensed by others.
What if I just want to use an image for an IM or forum avatar icon?
Contact me! I'll be glad to format an image to fit whichever icon size you need, just as long as you don't take credit for the image.
